This is the bush Yam out Atnangkerre Country and all over near Utopia Community.
First painted from my Aunty (we call Mother) Anna Petyarre - the yam we make seed damper on Country. The women collect yam seed in their coolamon bowl, and make a fire, crush the seeds with rocks and get ready to cook up on the coals – in our Anmatyerr language we call this yam Atnwelarr.
The underground creeks fill up with water (Kwaty) after the rain and allow and bush plants to flower then seed and continue to grow on Atnangkerre Country forever.
